Poor Jenny!

My little sister Jenny had her tonsils removed last week and developed a blood clot that hemorrhaged yesterday, causing her to lose a significant amount of blood. she went into surgery last night and, so far, is doing well this morning. it was a scary episode, but she's a tough little cookie. i just hope she heals quickly, she's getting married in 4 weeks! please keep her in your thoughts today!

I {heart} long weekends

Seriously, aren't long weekends the best?! I am very grateful for Martin Luther King and the impact that he made on this country for human rights, but I am also SO glad that we decided to honor him with a federal holiday. I spent my weekend doing wedding stuff with my sisters in logan, going to the opera "Carmen" with Jake, working at Williams Sonoma, sleeping in, having dinner with my awesome friend Amy at her new house in Spanish Fork and getting some crafty projects done at home. It was heaven!

Jake & I at Capitol Theater in downtown SLC

Watching "Carmen". It was so good!

Yummy chocolate souffle that Amy made

I think these cute projects deserve their own post, but here's a little snippit of the 2 chairs and the mirror that I painted. there are more pictures to come!

Officially a student!!

Taa-daa everyone, I'm officially a student! This may seem insignificant to many of you, but to me this represents a lot of time and work. I have wanted to go to school for the last 4 1/2 years and circumstances, some of my own fault and some not, have put up road blocks in my way. But finally the stars aligned and I got to start this week at the University of Utah. I know that I have at least 4 years of hard work ahead of me, but at least I have my foot in the door now and I'm ready for it! Yes, I am admitting what a true geek I am right now, but I actually teared up a little bit on the way to class last night because I feel like this is such a big step in the right direction for me. Thanks for all those who have supported me and helped me get to this goal - you know who you are!!!

Holiday season is over

I love the Christmas season, but I have to say that it feels good to be done with it and back to my normal routine. I had a wonderful Christmas filled with family and fun, and for New Years I spent the weekend in Las Vegas. Pictures of that trip will come as soon as I get them from everyone else in the group. Here are a few from the last couple of weeks:

my big brother Nick was in town from Portland for a few days and I got to go to dinner with him

took a day off of work to go snowboarding with my friend jake

does everyone know what G-Milk is? that fantastic, oddly shelf-stable, flavored milk from Gossners dairy? My family has loved them as long as I can remember and we successfully got me nephew hooked on them too!!

Me & Jaidance on Christmas morning.

my dear friend Amy Naser got married

my brother Matthew and his girlfriend Marcell were in town for Christmas and stayed with me for a few days. Jake & I made them breakfast before they left.

Sushi night with some friends. Mel has a hard time using chop sticks, so I helped her out.

She finally got it!
