Update about Nothing

Sorry for the lack of updates. Several things have happened but I can't seem to find my camera to post the pictures. My cousin Meleah got married and we had a ton of family in town for that. Then I spent the next weekend up in Logan. I went to 2 missionary homecomings and a wedding reception for some friends from high school. I'm very distraught about the sudden absence of my camera, but I promise to post pictures as soon as it reappears. In more current news: I am getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow! AAAHHHHH!!! All four are coming out and they are all impacted. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous. I've never gone under anesthesia before so that's adding to my nerves as well. The surgery is tomorrow at noon and I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that I'll be back to work on Tuesday after the long weekend. Wish me luck!!!

Reality Check

So this morning at about 2am, I finished the 4th Twilight book: Breaking Dawn. I have to say, I absolutely loved it!!!! That book threw me for so many loops that I wasn't expecting! It was fun, intense and exciting, and in the end everyone was happy! (Yay for happy endings!!) But, while I was driving to work this morning, I couldn't help but to feel a strange sort of reality setting in. For the past 2 weeks I have been totally engrossed in this little fantasy. On most days I would read before work, anticipate what's happening next, read at lunch, think about it some more, then read when I got home from work. But this morning, there was no anticipation. It was all over. There really are no vampires and there is really no Edward Cullen to lust after. SAD!!! Oh well, at least it was an incredibly fun ride while it lasted, now on to the next story. Any suggestions?

Oh and in other unrelated, but totally exciting news: John Mayer & Jennifer Anniston split up!!! (I know, it's a shocker) That means I can fully pursue my real-life fantasy without the threat of a girlfriend intervention. Wish me luck!! ;)

Twilight!?!

I have been talking about the Twilight books in my "current read" field on the left side of my blog, but I don't know if anyone noticed. So I decided to dedicate an entire blog to the discussion... The last time I decided to go against my better judgement and go with the mainstream I was very disappointed. It was Harry Potter. I know, I know, I may be black balled for saying this, but I got through the third one and just couldn't finish the series. I do not like fantasy and I just couldn't wrap my mind around someone getting killed so many times yet still finding a way to come back to life. So when I saw everyone on earth reading Twilight, I decided to shy away from it. Both of my sisters were absolutely in love with it and couldn't stop talking about some hunk named Edward Cullen. So, much to my chagrin and after much pleading from them, I broke down. I took the first book of the series on my flight to Pennsylvania. I thought my suspicions had been confirmed when I hated almost the entire book. The character development was slow and the writing was mediocre. I was bored stiff and honestly would not have finished the book had I not been stuck on an airplane with nothing better to do. So I kept reading and by the time I got about 400 pages in, it got really exciting. So exciting that as soon as I got home I couldn't wait to borrow the second book from my sister, I went straight to Barnes & Noble and bought it. Now, a week later, I have finished the second book (new moon) and am half way through the third book (eclipse). I still don't think it's the most intelligent writing I've ever come across, but I am officially hooked to the story and its characters!!!! I love the books and I can't wait until the movie is out! So now I have two questions for everyone who is actually reading this:
1.) What are your thoughts on the series and
2.) Team Jacob or Team Edward?!

Trip to Pennsylvania!

Hello, Hello! This past weekend I got to visit Steve in Pennsylvania! He was passing through on his tour with the Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps (www.yea.org/cadets). I flew out early Friday morning on a red eye flight that left Salt Lake Airport at 1:00am and arrived in Philadelphia at 9:30am. Then I spent all day Friday & Saturday with Steve. I watched his band rehearse all day, then they had a show both nights in Allentown that I got to go to. I love drum corps so I was excited that Steve could share that with me. Friday night Steve had to leave with the corps so I was all by my lonesome all day Sunday. I had a blast! I drove into Philadelphia and spent the whole day seeing all of the sites downtown. I'm a history nerd so it was really fun to have that time to myself to just explore. The only downside was the traffic! Arrgh! The drive from Allentown to Philadelphia should've only been an hour, but I got stuck in a major traffic jam so it took 2 hours and 45 minutes!!! All in all though, it was a fantastic weekend! I highly recommend Philly to everyone! Oh, and you have to go to Sonnie's and get a real Philly cheese steak while you're there!
