Thoughts on travel

Have y'all noticed that I love to travel?!  Yes, it is a bit of an obsession.  Maybe that means that I'm restless or ADD or something...who knows?  But I do love seeing new places, meeting new people, and trying new foods!  August 26-September 6th,  I was able to go on a trip with 4 of my fabulous girlfriends.  We flew to Rome, Italy and boarded a cruise that took us to Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Sicily, and back to Rome.  As I'm sure you can imagine, it was wonderful!  My fall semester of classes began just 3 days after I got home, plus I got another part/time job, so I'm just now getting around to posting about it.

Before I post a slew of photos, I just wanted to record a few of the thoughts I had on the trip.  First of all, the Mediterranean is just a beautiful area of the world.  I saw gorgeous terrain, crystal clear turquoise water, priceless artwork, masterpiece architecture, and historic ruins.  But I am mostly intriqued with people.  What I observed were people that speak different languages and have very different customs, but they were just living life.  Just like we do half-way across the world, they work, go to school, have families and friends, etc.  And the most important things in their lives are God, family and country.  Nothing different than what's important to us here.  So my point is this: though locations, faces, and cultures change, there are human universals and we are all so similar.  I will still love traveling, but I realized that I don't have to be envious of those that live in "cooler" places than I do.  I love my little mountain home, because the people I care about most are here.  And that's what's really important.

I love the perspective gained about life by traveling to different countries. It really is eye opening. So many people in search of the same things living in different ways.
