Dreamy days

Our surprise Valentines trip to the Oregon coast was amazing! We flew into Portland on Wednesday morning and drove 2 hours west to Cannon Beach.

Checked into our cute little B&B

And had just enough time to go for a gorgeous moonlight walk on the beach

There is a freshwater river that meets the ocean. It's really cool to see the water rushing along the beach, down to the open water

The next morning we took the recommendation of our B&B and hit up this cute little breakfast spot: Lazy Susan's. We enjoyed poached eggs with fresh Tillamook cheddar cheese -delicious!

Then we rented bikes and rode along the beach. We timed it so that we'd hit the low tide at Haystack rock.
This was the moment when everything stopped for a split second and I thought - This is what dreams are made of - I know that sounds a bit cheesey, but really; doesn't it seem like a dream sequence? Lazily riding a bike along the coastline on a cool day. The sea breeze tossing your hair, looking out at the ocean with someone you love. Perfect.

When the tide is low, it creates hundreds of tidal pools among the rocks. It's a great place to see some really cool marine life

Haystack rock may look familiar to you - Cannon Beach is where they filmed the 80's cult classic, "The Goonies". And have you noticed how much the natural curl in my hair loves the humidity coming from the water? Kind of crazy curls/poof going on. Oh well. It was here on this very beach, exactly 2 years ago, that we first exchanged the words "I Love you"

The tide came back up, so we moved from that beach to another. A gorgeous 1.5 mile hike through the Ecola State park led us to a secluded spot called Indian beach. We spent the rest of the evening there just enjoying the view and spelling our names out with rocks in the sand.

Friday afternoon came and it was time to head back to reality. On the way to the airport we met up with my brother Nick (who lives in Portland) for lunch.

The flight home was average and unremarkable, until I looked out my window and saw this gorgeous sunset. Beautiful way to spend an hour flight home.
